Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV)

HAV Risk Assessment & Management

Cut through the compliance myths. Protect your workforce and reduce your assessment costs by up to 90% with a pragmatic, expert-led approach to HAVS compliance.

Under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, employers have a requirement to assess and manage the risks of Hand-Arm Vibration. Prolonged use of vibrating power tools can lead to irreversible Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Vibration White Finger (VWF).

However, many organisations waste substantial time and money on continuous monitoring or do not fully understand the pitfalls of wrist, glove and hand-held monitoring systems that fail to meet the full requirements of BS EN ISO 5349.

Our approach aligns directly with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE): Don’t measure vibration unless you cannot obtain suitable data from alternative sources, and monitoring HAV all the time is not the best use of your resources. We focus on effective and practical risk management actions rather than wasting your resources on endless measurements.

Our HAV Services

Virtual Assessments: Using our HAVbase database, we can optimise the risk assessment process by representative field data from measurements taken in accordance with BS EN ISO 5349. This approach saves time and resources associated with onsite testing, allowing more focus on the risk reduction actions.
Onsite HAV Testing: Where field measurements are necessary, our team of expert consultants will attend your site to test your equipment under conditions that are representative of how you use them.
Comprehensive Risk Management & Audits: We don't just undertake HAV testing, we can also undertake HAV audits and provide detailed recommendations to implement best practice risk reduction and management measures.
HAV Training: Not only can we provide HAV testing and consultancy, we are also a major HAV training provider for HAV - from bespoke tool box talks and management briefings, to HAV masterclasses and IOSH accredited Risk Assessment & Management Training.
